This is an introduction to quilting that will focus on the completion of a small, usable quilt. Skills that you will learn in the 1st class include cutting, piecing, and pressing. The second class will concentrate on borders. The 3rd class, basic machine quilting and the last class will be binding. Join us for this series of four classes. $80 is for the entire series.
*Three coordinating fabrics, (I recommend a light, medium, and dark value) for your choice of sizes
Table runner (15”x40 ”) 1/3 yd. each, of three different fabrics
Baby (35”x45”) 2/3 yd. each, of three different fabrics
If you want to make a bigger size you can add a variety of borders, this will be discussed in class 2.
*Sewing machine, in working order; bring the manual and feet.
*Cutting mat, rotary cutter, 6×24 acrylic ruler, scissors, seam ripper
*Thread to blend with fabric choice, a neutral shade is usually good
*Straight pins
*Batting and backing and optional border fabric will be determined in class
*Paper and pencil
Please arrive 15 min. before class time to set up your machine in the classroom. Some people like to pre-wash their fabric, if you do so, have it pressed before class also. (Prewashing assures that after your blocks are made, none of the fabrics will shrink differently or fade later.)
